A little bit about me…
I specialize in creating beautiful and artistic maternity, newborn, child, and adult portraits. I love to spend time with people and consider it to be a privilege to capture a moment in your life for you. I especially enjoy photographing children and babies because there is something so special and fleeting about each age and stage they go through. Watching my own children grow has increased my wonder in how quickly children change and how important it is to capture that essence that makes them unique. I’ve found that it’s the little things that really do make life special and I love that with photography I can pause life and keep it forever. I am humbly honored to share in the joy of a new baby, make a frowning child smile, and capture the natural elegance of everyday life.
My story…My name is Rebecca Mikami and I am a professional child photographer in Portland, Oregon. I became interested in photography in high school and took pictures of anyone or everything I could. I began to take my hobby seriously and over the years have taken more photography classes than I can count. Photography is wonderful because you can always learn something new...and I love to learn! I have also always loved being around children so I went to school at the University of Puget Sound and pursued a degree in Communication Theory. I followed this with a Masters in Speech-Language Pathology, at the University of Oregon where I further specialized in early childhood education. I am passionate about helping and appreciating each unique child.
I truly love learning about people, and I am truly blessed and grateful to be able to spend time with children and families and really personalize that into a timeless form of art. I aim to capture a soft, classical style that is elegant and emotive. Hopefully I’ll maybe even get that picture that years from now you’ll look back at and think “yeah, that’s the one.” My goal is simply to produce images that tug at your heart, provide comfort, and allow you to celebrate your life.
